This is one of my favourite reads from Adelaide. Aswell as the one that introduced me to her. Mafia romance is something I read a lot of, and this series sits proudly at the top of the pile.

He forces her to provide blanket consent in the midst of foreplay or else he won't have sex with her - there are instances after where she doesn't want to consent but she is afraid of the consequences/confused about what it means that she already agreed to that previous blanket statement. He never gives her an out, never provides a safe word, they never have discussions about what it means that she's agreeing or anything similar - he just says he owns her body now and then proceeds to treat her as if that is true. He threatens her with painful/unprepared anal the one time she tries to deny him. This is your chance to give consent. This is your chance to tell me you trust me with your body, and if you can’t do that then it all stops until you can. It’s all or nothing with me, Little One. The choice is yours.” This story just feels alive, and keeps you hooked with all the twists and turns. My favourite thing about this entire series is that the character development is just incredible. Rafe see’s Isa, when she is younger (17) and decides that no matter what he has to have her. He waits 16 months til he introduces himself to her after manipulating her life so she would end up in Ibiza. I was also really enjoying the concept of modern mafia families fighting in a gladiator style pit. Something about that scratched a brain itch I wasn't aware of until I was actively reading it.

So basically, to wed them and breed them. To create the next generation of Leaders in their families Anyways this was so good! I was hooked from the first chapter and I finished this in one sitting. I usually don't enjoy prologues because I just want a full length novel for me to binge on but this was an exception. I loved Adelaide's writing and it was super easy to read and compelling to keep going (as to how I spent my entire night reading). I will definitely be reading from this author again! And Thalia...This girl was so annoying to me. She had to witness horrors at such a young age and I did feel sorry for her, of all the pain she had to endure at the hand of her own family. I just really didn't like how unreasonable she was all the time. After Calix got banished, she dreamt for so long for him to come save her, and when he finally does it, she's complaining that it took so long. Like, this guys worked for years to gain the power to achieve saving her and this girl is ungrateful. She whined and complained and pushed and pulled and really didn't know what she wanted. Some things that she said really bugged me like: ''One day, I might risk his[Calix] wrath to test his limits and toy with another man just to irritate him.'' Good idea, cause seeing your own mother getting beheaded by your father's hand for cheating when you were only 7 wouldn't traumatize you at all. Her behavior was very odd and rebellious in a way that wasn't natural. I just...I really didn't like her. She was stupid.

The author makes you love Rafe from the start. He is so dedicated to her it’s twisted in a beautiful way. He wants her to love him and tries to swoon her and when she doesn’t choose him he takes her anyways. I mean, he does try to give her a choice 😅. She still smiled up at me like I hung the moon and stars in the night sky and gave her light in the darkness.” Isa loved him before he kidnapped her and showed her his El Diablo side so really your just kinda waiting for her to grow into the queen she was ment to be. But she fights hard and Rafe kinda loves it to 😂. She lives in New York with her husband, two children, and their dog and cat who all make up the center of her world.Tropes: Mafia romance, Dark romance, Possessive & Jealous H, Stalker, “Who did this to you?” and my personal fav “Touch her and you die” we see Calix has a dark side, and we see very well why him and Rafe are friends 😈. He isn’t on races crazy level AT ALL but he’s got that darkness and when he got made at Thalia 🥵🥵🤤
