About this deal

Our simple yet fun craft is made from a collection of green, silver and red pipe cleaners, twisted into two candy canes and secured together into a heart shape. Don’t you love these!? They are so adorable! They would make such a cute treat to take to school, or even to the office. There was also a pound of their Bada Bing Bada Boom Gourmet Compound Chocolate Dipping & Coating Formula in Dark included! I’ll be posting a couple of recipes after the holidays using that!) Less is more when you are adding the candy. You can always add more but it’s much harder to take some out.

I can’t tell you how many times I had to say ‘not yet’ when photographing these cuties. They make such a personal present for someone special or a beautiful keepsake that can be used for years to come.

Spoon the chocolate into the hearts until they are full. Unwrap the mini candy canes and place them in a large plastic zip-top bag. Crush the candy canes with a rolling pin or meat mallet until they are in small pieces. If at any point the candy canes get too cool and become too difficult to shape, return them to the oven to soften for a few additional minutes. Once all of the hearts are formed, let them cool completely at room temperature before proceeding. These are the main steps to creating peppermint bark hearts, with some important tips along the way. (You can also scroll down to grab an easy to read printable version of the recipe) Step 1: Place the Candy Canes on a Baking Sheet Before your chocolate sets, you’ll want to add sprinkles to the top. I used a combination of mini hearts and gold confetti sprinkles along with some red nonpareils. Pour the chocolate chips into the bowl and heat the saucepan over medium heat until the water begins to simmer. The directions on the container of chocolate said that I needed to melt the chocolate in the microwave at 50% power until ¾ melted, stirring every 30-60 seconds. Once it was mostly melted, I just stirred to melt the rest. They’re so simple to make and they do look super-cute on the tree. I think I’m going to make a batch for the table on Christmas Day too. Test the sugar again – this time the spoon is much clearer and the sugar liquid is fairly transparent. Leave it for couple more minutes and then bring the mixture to the boil and carry on boiling on a medium heat. Don’t be tempted to steer the mixture, it would crystallise it.

It is still possible to make peppermint bark hearts with broken candy canes, but I won’t lie, it’s a challenge. Here are the tools and equipment I use to make my traditional sweets recipes. To make this candy cane recipe, you’ll need: We’re using white almond bark in this recipe because it melts well and the flavors complement the peppermint very well. Let the candy cane hearts cool in the refrigerator until firm, about 30-45 minutes. More Holiday Treats to Love: As long as the pieces are close enough together you should be able to shape the pieces together later. Step 2: Gently heat the Candy canes The heart is a shape that has been symbolising love for many years. We have compiled a couple of other lovely facts about the heart shape that is perhaps less well-known:

This was repeated with the rest of the hearts. You can also use a spoon to pour some chocolate on the joints of the heart if you want to be more thorough. I ended up adding some chocolate to a couple to make sure they stayed together. To make single-flavor peppermint bark, spoon white or dark chocolate into the center of a candy cane heart and smooth it into an even layer. You don’t need to fill chocolate all the way to the top of the heart–reaching about halfway or two-thirds to the top of the candy cane is just fine. Extra Moist Pumpkin Bread is the perfect solution to your autumn baking needs. It’s made with real pumpkin puree and a combination of sugar and spice and everything nice, making it incredibly delicious. The addition of coconut oil helps to keep the bread tender while still providing a great flavor. The texture is soft, light, and cake-like. While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle a few bits of crushed candy cane on top for a pretty effect.

For even more candy cane or heart-shaped activities, then why not try our Candy Cane Wreath? You will notice how the candy canes when glued together make a heart shape. How do I know?
