About this deal

Cation Exchange Capacity, or CEC, measures the amount of nutrients a substrate can absorb. These nutrients are stored and made available for plants at their roots. To perform a substrate change safely, start by removing your fish and putting them in another tank or temporary container. Then remove about half of the tank’s water to make it easier to perform the change. Plants grow better in gravel because it’s less compact and plants are able to grow a strong root system more easily. However, you will likely be able to grow plants in sand substrate if you provide root tabs and adequate liquid fertilization. Mixing active aqua soils with active non-aqua soils, such as Seachem Flourite or CaribSea Eco-Complete, is an effective and easy method for increasing your substrate’s volume in an inexpensive way.

Your default water parameters are going to largely determine what species of plants and tropical fish you will be able to keep. Dirt has a very high level of nutrition, will promote explosive root growth, and is relatively inexpensive compared to aqua soils.Replacement of Glass Bulbs/Tubes: Glass bulbs or tubes can only be replaced if they become faulty within 14 days. You can use a fine kitchen strainer or colander to rinse the substrate. Ideally, go for a garden hose with little to no water force. Keep in mind not to spray hard on the pellets as we don’t want to crush them into the dirt. Drain the substrate a few times until the water runs clearly. Aqua soils are a type of active aquarium substrate. They are designed specifically for promoting aquatic plant growth. This is achieved by reducing water hardness and pH or by leaching macro and micronutrients that plants consume. Crushed coral and aragonite They are softer though, so excessive substrate vacuuming and plant adjustments may cause them to break down with frequent use. How deep should aquarium substrate be?

Substrate with a high buffering capacity consume carbonate minerals and reduce the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+). This lowers the pH of the aquarium water, which is generally better for plant growth. After rinsing off the stratum, it’s unlikely to have much dirt in it. However, the residue might find a way to get there in the water, which you should drain out. Let your filter do the magic Fluval Plant and Shrimp Stratum is a substrate with a slightly acidic ph which is ideal for most plants, tropical fish and shrimp normally kept in planted freshwater aquariums. It helps control organic discolouration and provides newborn shrimp with a refuge from predators. This mineral-rich volcanic soil is particularly good for use with natural driftwood as it will stop organic discolouration without removing the key nutrients from the wood. This soil is also beneficial for aquatic plants as plant roots easily penetrate and spread throughout, receiving the specially formulated Fluval plant micro-nutrients. What are the benefits of this substrate? The substrate's light, non compacting structure is also highly beneficial to nitrifying bacteria, which rapidly colonise the vast porous surface, providing the optimal water quality for plants.
