About this deal

Like the White Chocolate Salted Peanut, this flavour contains slightly more calories than the earlier bars – 233 calories in this one – and they also contain slightly less protein – 20g compared to 22g in some of the others. Texture-wise this bar is a variation on Grenade’s newer formula. It’s soft and fluffy, with a nice crunch from the crispies. Grenade released this flavour in 2016 but, convinced I hated mint chocolate, I’ve waited until now to try it. With an already excellent flavour, Grenade could almost have gotten away without the Oreo pieces, but they do lend a nice crunch (and additional ‘authenticity’) to tie this bar together.

Food Supplements are intended to supplement the diet and should not be substituted for a varied diet or healthy lifestyle. The best part by far is the vanilla creme layer. It’s amazingly close to the real thing and the vanilla sweetness perfectly complements the richness of the cocoa base.

How. When. Why.

There was a time, a dark time, when I was a PB&J hater. Thankfully, I’ve since recognised the error of my ways and have become a COMMITTED lover (peanut butter first, strawberry jam ALWAYS). Milk Chocolate with Sweetener (25%) (Sweetener; Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Whole Milk Powder, Cocoa Mass, Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin; Natural Flavouring), Protein Blend (Calcium Caseinate (Milk), Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate (Milk)), Bulking Agent; Polydextrose; Hydrolysed Beef Gelatine, Humectant; Glycerol; Soy Protein, Soy Oil, Low Fat Cocoa, Skimmed Milk Powder, Sweetener; Xylitol, Sucralose; Tapioca Starch, Flavourings, Salt, Sunflower Oil, Emulsifier; Citric Acid Ester; Colour; Beta Carotene.

It’s a nice, chocolate-y bar but it’s interesting that Grenade decided to come out with this when their Fudge Brownie bar is such a classic. I will definitely be eating this on the regular, but it gets an 8.5 because in the end, it is just a chocolate crunch with orange flavouring… Birthday Cake 5/10 White Chocolate With Sweetener (27%) (Sweetener; Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Whole Milk Powder, Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin; Natural Flavouring), Protein Blend (Calcium Caseinate (Milk), Whey Protein Isolate (Milk)), Hydrolysed Beef Gelatine, Humectant; Glycerol; Dietary Fibres (Polydextrose, Chicory Fibre), Water, Palm Fat, Sugar Free Sprinkles (4.5%) (Sweetener; Maltitol, Potato Starch, Rice Flour, Palm Fat, Colours; Curcumin, Riboflavin, Beetroot Red, Anthocyanins, Brilliant Blue Fcf), Flavouring, Sweetener; SucraloseProtein Blend (Calcium Caseinate (Milk), Whey Protein (Milk), Milk Protein), Milk Chocolate with Sweetener (20%) (Sweetener; Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Whole Milk Powder, Cocoa Mass, Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin; Natural Flavouring), Bovine Collagen Hydrolysate, Sweeteners; Maltitol, Sucralose; Humectant; Glycerol; Bulking Agent; Polydextrose; Chocolate Chips with Sweetener (5.8%) (Cocoa Mass, Sweetener; Maltitol; Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin; Fat-reduced Cocoa Powder, Natural Flavouring), Soy Protein, Soy Oil, Sunflower Oil, Flavourings, Potassium Chloride, Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin The question is, which pin to pull? There are 12 flavours (at the time of writing) and we have 11 of them here for you today… Grenade have definitely switched something up with their more recent flavours – the overall texture is softer and they’ve outgrown the crispies. This bar continues the theme and, in fact, might actually be the fudgiest bar yet. It’s actually squidgy! In many ways this bar is similar to the Caramel Chaos – Obviously, the chocolate coating and the texture are exactly alike, but the flavour is overall pretty similar too if I’m honest. I think I’d have to eat them one after the other to really distinguish between them.

I have to say, the overall flavour is similar to that of the OG bar– maybe a little too familiar for some – probably owing to the caramel layer. There is some peanut flavour, but it’s much gentler than I, and other peanut lovers like me, would perhaps have liked. GRENADE® CARB KILLA should be consumed as part of a balanced diet. Product contains more than 10g/100g polyols: excessive consumption may cause laxative effects. Protein Blend (Calcium Caseinate ( Milk), Whey Protein Isolate (Milk)), Milk Chocolate with Sweetener (20%) (Sweetener: Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Whole Milk Powder, Cocoa Mass, Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin; Natural Flavouring), Bovine Collagen Hydrolysate, Humectant: Glycerol; Sweeteners: Maltitol, Sucralose; Palm Oil, Water, Fat- reduced Cocoa Powder (3%), Wheat Flour, Maize Starch, Rapeseed Oil, Bulking Agent: Polydextrose; Sea Salt, Wheat Starch, Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin; Raising Agents: Ammonium Carbonates, Sodium Carbonates; Acidity Regulator: Sodium Hydroxide; Flavourings. Texture-wise, it’s pretty similar to the other Grenade bar flavours, except the creme offers a smoother, creamier, texture than Grenade’s usual caramel layer and the Oreo pieces are less crunchy than the crispies found on the likes of Caramel Chaos and Jaffa Quake.

I’m SO glad Grenade has done another sweet/salty flavour. They nailed the White Chocolate Salted Peanut flavour, and I had all faith they’d nail this one too. Protein bars can be a healthier alternative to chocolate bars, offering additional nutrition. When eaten in moderation, they can be a great addition to a healthy, balanced diet and can help you to achieve your fitness goals. Are protein bars good for you? Grenade have always done things a little differently, and their branding is no exception, which is perhaps why they are now the most well-known brand on the market.
